Roger D. Hayes, age 62, of Gary, IN passed away Friday, March 20, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 5 daughters, Billy Jean (fiancé, Leo Barba) Haynes, Sara Jean Hayes, Michelle Jimenez, Tabitha Smith, and Suebrina (fiancé, Teofilo De Leon, Jr.) Beck; 7 grandchildren, Michael Gutierrez, Joshua and Christina Joseph, Adrian Jimenez, Desmond Rainey, and Wallace and Brian Smith; 2 brothers, Delbert Lee (Pam) Hayes and Gerald W. (Donna D) Hayes; 1 sister, Elaine (Gary) Brammer; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Grace Hayes, daughter, Christina Beck, sister and brother-in-law, Anna Jean and Kenneth Treadaway.
Funeral services will be held Sunday March 22, 2009 at 5 PM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Steve Jones officiating. Cremation will follow at his request. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday from 2-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.
Roger was a lifetime resident of this area and a retired Feeder from Inland Steel Co where he worked for 34 years. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church of Dyer, IN and was a member of A.A.R.P. For information call LaHayne Funeral Home at 219-845-3600
