Mitchell Reneé McFerren, fondly known as Mitch, was born on January 7, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH. Soon after, he settled in Chicago, IL. He was the first of three children born to the union of Lora and Eugene McFerren (both parents preceded him in death).
He received his formal education at Hirsch Metropolitan high School. He symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God at an early age. In October 1976 he married Angela Reneé Carroll (preceded in death). From this union Mitch and Angie would have three girls: Misty Reneé, Angie Reneé and Myndi Reneé.
Mitch held many titles in his life, from auto mechanic to avid fisherman, swimmer and outdoorsman. Of all his many passions, his favorite role was being a father. He literally never missed a day of talking or texting one of his children or grandchildren. It can be said that his very first thought each morning when he opened his eyes were his ‘babies and grandbabies.’ He was known among his family for his early morning calls. We all knew it was him because no one else would call that early!
Mitch fought many personal battles in his life, as we all do, but it never took away from his fun-loving, strong, yet sensitive demeanor. He was a humble man and very generous. Mitch wouldn’t hesitate to give his last, even if it meant he’d be without. He was known for his sense of humor and built lifelong friendships. He fell asleep in death on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters: Misty (Dan), Angela and Myndi (Brian); grandchildren: Dalen Robinson, Layla McFerren, Paige McGhee, Jada Rogers and Angelo Lundy; great-grandchild: Timmy Jerome Kimp III; siblings: Wiley (Geno) McFerren, Valerie McFerren and lifelong brother-in-love, LaMarr Carroll (Faye); nieces and nephews: Devon, Raven, Denise, Krizia, Thomas, Joshua, Travis, Aisha, Eric Jr. and Brandon; and a host of cousins, neighbors and friends.
