Marleene J. Pala, age 72, of Hammond, IN., formerly of South Deering, IL., passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 peacefully at home.
Marleene is survived by her sons: Stephen (Michelle) Pala and Robert Madujano; grandchildren: Robert William (fiancée Amanda) Mandujano, Cassidy Richerme and Caitlyn Richerme; one great grandchild on the way; fond aunt of many. Marleene was preceded in passing by her husband, Stephen Pala; brothers: John O'Neill and Kevin O'Neill; sisters: Kathy (late Harry) Reynolds and Karen (David) Cruz.
"Matza" graduated from Bowan High School. She later worked for and retired from the State of Illinois as a Social Worker and Caregiver. In her home life as well as her profession, Matza was also the Family Care Giver, always making sure the entire family was being taken care of. She loved music, and was always watching one of her CNN stories or Soap Operas. She was an amazing cook and was "famous" for her Golumpki, even though she was an Irish girl. Above all else she was an amazing mother and grandmother.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 4:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home 6955 Southeastern Avenue Hammond, IN 46324 with Pastor James Williams officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM.
