Keith E. Alexander

Keith E. Alexander, age 70, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Keith is survived by his sister: Rebecca "Becky" (late William) Bailey; nieces: Amy Alexander, Candace (Gus) Kouros, Ashley Alexander, Trisha Kouros, and numerous others; nephews: Eric Alexander, Dylan (Lizzie) Alexander, Sean Pinson and numerous others; sisters-in-law: Kay Deal and Sharon Saylor; brother-in-law, Bruce Spanier.  Keith was preceded in passing by his wife, Pamela "Pam" Alexander (nee Spanier); brother, Larry (late Sharon) Alexander; many beloved cats and dogs.  The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for Keith's caregivers for the compassion and dignity he was provided: Patti and Kim.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324 with Pastor Chris Steffan officiating.  Burial will immediately follow with Military Honors to Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Keith was born October 14, 1951, in Hammond, IN to Claude and Evelyn Alexander.  He attended Hammond Tech high School.  After graduation he enlisted in the US Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device and Markman Badge (Rifle).  When he returned, he studied Electrical Engineering at Purdue University and became a Union Electrician at Inland Steel, dedicating 35 years until retiring in 2011.  He was a long-time member of VFW Post 369.  Keith was known to always be found in front of the TV, and if sports were on, he was watching his beloved White Sox, Bears or Bulls.  He also loved finding time to go fishing and looked forward to playing Poker with his friends.
