Kathleen J Godbolt

Kathleen "Kathy" J. Godbolt (nee Mecyssine), age 84, of Hammond, IN passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Kathleen is survived by her loving children: Dwayne (Elaine Balio) Godbolt of Hammond, IN., Douglas (Tami) Godbolt of Lowell, IN. and Doyle (Dawn) Godbolt of Hammond, IN.; proud grandmother of: David (Amy) Godbolt, Brittney (Robbie) Cruse, Kalyne (Tony) Lopez, Adam Godbolt, Michael (Maranda) Godbolt and Melissa Godbolt; great grandmother to: Carly, Callie, Chase, Olivia, Braydon, Logan, Addison, Colette, Grayson and Everleigh; siblings: John (Karen) Mecyssine, Carol Bloom (Jim), Evelyn (Butch) Gawlinski; sisters in law: Esther Mecyssine and Rita Mecyssine; fond aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; and her very dear friends and "buddies-in-crime": Carmelita and Sean Monroe. Kathleen was preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 57 years, Harold Godbolt; her brothers: Robert Mecyssine and Richard Mecyssine; and daughter in law, Cheryl Godbolt.

Kathy was born on June 30, 1937, in Hammond, IN to John and Catherine Mecyssine.  She met the love of her life, Harold on a blind date and then married on October 8, 1955, spending 57 years together.  Kathy was a Jefferson School Crossing guard for over 20 years. She was a State Street Baptist Church member for over 50 years and continued to be active when the Church merged with Cornerstone Baptist Church.  In 2020 when Cornerstone closed, she became a member of Woodmar Baptist Church. She loved her coloring classes and enjoyed baking and gardening.  Most of all she was proud of all of her grandchildren and loved them all very much.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324 with Pastor Scott Ferry officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.  Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home.  For more information, please call (219) 845-3600 or visit www.lahaynefuneralhome.com
