John Kennerk

John Kennerk, age 74 of Lynwood, IL passed away December 10, 2020.  John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anne Kennerk nee Creevy; children Cathy (Allen) Forbes, Jack (Molly) Kennerk, Phillip (Amy) Kennerk and Steve Kennerk; siblings, Judy (late Pete) Finke, Harry (Linda) Kennerk, Hannah (late Dick) Wilson, Steve (Carol) Kennerk, Dan (Sally) Kennerk and Tom Kennerk; grandchildren, Tripp Forbes, Donovan Forbes, Maryanne Forbes; many nieces, nephews and brother-in-law to many.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Helen Kennerk and brother Tim Kennerk.

John was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Parish Council Member at St. John Church where he was a member for 30 years.  He worked as a Quality Control Manager for the construction of the Orange Line.

John loved all of the holidays, family reunions, was an outdoorsman and was most proud of the title of "Grandpa Kennerk."  He enjoyed gardening, canning and traveling and always looked forward to that cup of Irish Coffee.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 301 South Cottage Grove Avenue in Glenwood, Illinois with Rev. Marty Zielinski officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family directly at St. John Catholic Church also on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM.  Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to Priests Retirement Fund, The Honor Flight or to the Catholic Extensions. The Church requests that everyone wear a face covering and to practice social distancing.
