Jean A. Johnson

Jean A. Johnson nee Colvin of Hammond, IN. passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at home.

Jean is survived by her children: Linda (Herman) Cawthron, Max Johnson, Jr. and Julia (Mark) Hendricks; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way; siblings: Fred (Laurie) Colvin and Christine Waldrod; many nieces and nephews.  Jean was preceded in passing by her husband, Max E. Johnson, Sr.; children: Denise (late John) Gallo and Elden Johnson; parents: William and Ellen Colvin; brother, Bill (late Peggy) Colvin.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Hammond.  She raised 5 children in the house she resided in for 69 years. WJOB was her radio station and NOBODY was allowed to touch the radio.  In the mornings she loved her soap operas and on Sundays Lawrence Welch was on.  She was most proud of her title of "Grammy" and was the "neighborhood mom" to all.  She was so loved and will be missed by all.

A Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 8, 2021 at LaHayne Funeral Home 6955 Southeastern Avenue Hammond, IN 46324 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Donald Rector officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of service at Noon.  Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
