Edwin Sanchez

Edwin "Ed" Sanchez, age 66, of Hammond, IN passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Ed is survived by his partner of 41 years, Angel L Rodriguez, Jr.; sisters: Maria Sanchez and Blanca Rivera; brothers: Dirberto (Loida) Sanchez, Juan Vargas, David (Sonia) Sanchez and Eduardo Sanchez; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Joey.  Ed was preceded in passing by his mother, Candida Rivera; and his father, Asuncion Sanchez.

Ed graduated High School in "The Bronx" and then went on to graduate Culinary School in Chicago.  While living in Chicago, Ed met his partner of 41 years, Angel.  Together Ed and Angel helped raise many of their nieces and nephews.  They loved travelling together and spent a lot of time with their dog, Joey.  Ed enjoyed cooking for all of his friends and family, and took that passion of cooking into his career at Advocate Trinity Hospital where he retired from.  Ed loved being able to frequent the Casinos where BINGO and Slots were his games of choice.  Going to yard sales and thrift stores were Ed's form of exercise.

A Funeral Service will be held at LaHayne Funeral Home 6955 Southeastern Avenue Hammond, IN 46324 on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Father Theodore Mens of St. Joseph Church of Hammond officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home.
