Dale “Rick” Wignall, beloved Husband of Rosemary, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, passed away on November 6, 2020.
Dale was born in Des Moines, IA to the late Glen and Margaret (Bruner) Wignall. He was preceded in death by his Brother, Michael Wignall; Sister, Marlys (Eugene) Pedigo; and Sister, Marjorie (Michael) McKeever.
He is survived by his Wife Rosemary, the love of his life; his beloved Daughter, Lisa (Michael) Pierce and Son, Rick (Amy) Wignall; 6 grandchildren: Justin (Destiny) VanTornout, Cameron (Bethany) Wignall, Victoria (Anthony) Gonzales, Julia Sommers, Cole Wignall and Clay Wignall; 6 great-grandchildren: Liam and Kinsley Gonzales, Shaylee, Skylar, Sinclair and Sinthea VanTornout, Brother, Glen (the late Judy) Wignall and many loved Nieces and Nephews.
Dale worked for Black & Decker as a Branch Manager, and also at Continental Machine and Engineering, Viking Engineering and Heco Engineering. Dale proudly served in the U.S Navy during the Vietnam era on the USS Zellars DD-777 the “Zippin Z.” He always enjoyed gathering with his former shipmates at the annual reunions as they reminisced and shared their stories. He was an avid car enthusiast and recently enjoyed restoring his 1964 Falcon with his son and grandsons. He loved his church family and was very appreciative of their thoughts and prayers during his illness.
Visitation will be held at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Avenue in Hammond, IN on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 7051 Indianapolis Boulevard in Hammond on Friday, November 13, 2020 with friends and family invited to visit from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Vicar Dale Zylstra officiating. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Due to COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of others, masks are to be worn and please practice social distancing.
