Caryl P. Jurgens

Caryl P. Juergens, age 87, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009. She is survived by two children: Robert (Debbie) Juergens, Sr. of Dyer and Connie (Allan) Rabbers of Hammond; three grandchildren: David Johnson of Anderson, SC, Robert (Laura) Juergens, Jr. of Chicago, IL and Becca (Chris) Strisko of Chicago, IL; four great grandchildren: Jessica, Brittany and Nicholas Johnson, and Derek Juergens; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. "Fritz" Juergens; and sister, Arlene Kinach. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Karl Davies officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of the Calumet Area, 421 45th Ave., Munster, IN 46321 or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7227 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN 46324. Caryl was a lifetime resident of this area and a 1939 graduate of Hammond High School. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hammond and the Hammond Historical Society.
