Barbara R Anderson

Barbara Ruth Anderson, age 92, of Valparaiso, IN and previously of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Northwest Health-Porter.  Barbara was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Erwin and Carrie Bell Walls on April 28, 1929.  She came to Hammond, Indiana around 1941 and graduated from Hammond High School in 1947.  Barbara worked at LaSalle Steel for over 30 years and retired in 1985.  She moved to Florida, the sunshine state; there she enjoyed her life with friends, relatives and visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an only child with many cousins, which she kept in close contact with and enjoyed travelling to visit them.  Most recently Barbara returned to Valparaiso, Indiana to be close to her immediate family.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memories, her sons: Michael (Marilyn) Mead; Thomas (Vicki) Mead and Rob Shrivillini; her daughter, Cynthia (Louie) Licciardone; former daughter-in-law, Patricia Mead-Houston; Grandchildren: Louie Licciardone Jr., Lisa Sajdyk, Kelly (Jon) Hill, Nick (Sydney) Licciardone, Tim (Jill) Licciardone, Michael Mead Jr., Keri Meachum, Matt (Amanda) Mead and Zac Shrivillini.  Barbara was blessed with 11 great grandchildren: Trent, Tori, Julia, Gracie, Lily, Zofia, Victoria, Lyla, Everett, Vita and Cella.  She also cherished her friendship with longtime friends, Elva and Arlo Kunnemann.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Joshua Mead.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN., 46324.  Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran School, Munster, Indiana.
