Obituary

Wincle Jay Hudson passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018. Wincle was born on April 30, 1917 to the late Luther and Elva Stribling in Carthage, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her husband Rufus Hudson Sr.; 2 brothers: Eugene Stribling and F.C. Jones, 1 sisters: Bessie Langdon, 4 stepsister: Annie B. Gillie, Lubertha Fort, Corilla Brazzle and Irene Brazzle: One son: Rufus Hudson Jr and great grandson Kelvin Bo Campbell. Wincle accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Galilee MB Church in Carthage, Mississippi. Wincle graduated from Harmony High School in Carthage, MS. After high school she attended Conway College. Wincle starting teaching elementary school. Wincle married Rufus Hudson Sr. in 1941, and then they moved to Chicago, Illinois. Where, she retired from Aldens, as a seamstress. They then moved back to Carthage, Mississippi, there she started teaching head start in Galilee, MS for many years. Later after moving to Carthage, she became active in the civil rights movement. Wincle loved cooking and gardening and being around family. In 2004 Wincle moved to Hammond, IN to be with her children and grandchildren. Wincle leaves to cherish in her memory, two children, one daughter: Shirley Campbell and one son: Alan William Hudson, one sister: Hazel Griffin, Detroit, Mich, four grandchildren Travis (Lorene) Campbell, Scott Campbell, Kena "Wendy" Campbell and Tunicia (Mark) Campbell-Webb. She has 21 great-grandchildren, 24 great great - grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, March 07, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of Service at 11:00 AM at LaHayne Funeral Home , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana.
