Wendy VanOppens, age 73, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Wendy is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Joseph) Moscato; her son, Christopher (Angela) VanOppens; Grandchildren: Aaron VanOppens, Julia Castillo, Zoya VanOppens, Aiden VanOppens, Joseph VanOppens; Great Grandson, Arlo VanOppens;  Sister, Sherry (Jonathan) Hrsinko; Brother, Dwayne (Jeanne) Brooks; Nieces: Laurie Lekavich and Rachael Brooks; Nephews: Gene DeVries and Anthony Brooks; Best Friend, Sharon Sokol.  Wendy was preceded in passing by her husband, William VanOppens; her daughter, Sharon VanOppens; and her son, William VanOppens.

Wendy was the true Matriarch of the family. Raising her children, she was extremely involved in PTA as well as Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She loved camping and swimming and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor. Wendy was especially proud of her earned title of "Grandma". She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
