Walter Grudzien, SR, age 91, US Army Veteran of WWII, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Beloved Husband for 58 year of late Mary Grudzien nee Adamus. Loving Father of late Gregory (Kathryn) Grudzien, Walter (Joyce) Grudzien, JR, Gerald Grudzien, and Rosemary (late Dennis) White. Proud Grandfather of Noel Marie (Rick) Burks, Nick Grudzien, Sara (Adam) Eisense,
Samantha Kelly (Ryan) Frankland, Walter Adam Grudzien, Chelsa White, and Jennifer White. Dearest Great-Grandfather of Brooke, Faith, Grace, Michael, Logan, Evan, Brianna, Sofija, and Eli. Devoted Brother of Toni (Chester) Zarowny, John (Marie) Grudzien, Edward (late Labeta) Grudzien, Delores (late Steve) Dupin, Loretta (John) Kristovic, late Stella (late Joe) Jallo, late Mary (late Walter) Jallo, late Matthew (Helen) Grudzien, and late Ted Grudzien. Fond Uncle of many Nieces and Nephews.
Walter was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. He was a member of the American Legion East Chicago Allied Post 369, belonged to the Polish Allies No. 408 and the United Polka Association and was a 4th Degree Knight. Walter enjoyed traveling, dancing, and his garden. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Walter was loved by many and will be missed by more.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 9:30 AM from LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave. to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6525 Kentucky Ave., Hammond, IN for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM with Rev. Richard Orlinski officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME. There will be a Rosary Service also on Sunday at 3 PM along with 6:30 PM Service contucted by the members of the Amercian Legion East Chicago Allied Post 369.
