Virginia Cameron, age 78, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

Virginia is survived by her children: Harvey (Shelly) Cameron, Jr. and Marsha Cameron; Nanny to grandchildren: Darrion, Davon, Michael, DeAndre, Christopher, Eric, Brian and Rashawn; great grandchildren: Kamorah, Luna, Sharvey, O'Shae, Bryce, Brentley, Eriana, Eric, Jayceon, Aaliyah and Kyrie; son in law, Dennis Best; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in passing by her daughter, Dana Best; sister, Deanna (Joe) Miller; and great grandson, Blake.

Virginia was born to Ralph and Myrtle Amos on November 5, 1943.  She was proud of her title of "Nanny".  In her younger years she was a model and an entrepreneur.  She was a seamstress and a carpenter; you name it, she could fix it!  She was the cook that everyone learned from.  She was a believer.  Virginia never had to leave home to go shop, she would just get it off the T.V.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond IN 46324 at 6:30 PM.  Friend are invited to visit with the family on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 6:30 PM.  Due to Covid-19 the family requests all guests to wear masks and practice social distancing.
