Vincent W. E. Smith, age 85, US Army Veteran of the Korean War, of Hammond, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014. He was born in Orange, New Jersey and lived in Hammond most of his life.

Beloved father of Raymond E. (Mary Murphy) Smith, David "Dave" W. (Joyce) Smith. John E. (Kathy) Smith, and Richard "Ricky" A. (Patricia "Patty") Smith. Devoted brother of Dorothy V. (the late Wilbert) Henry. Proud Grandfather of Raymond and Mary's children Valerie and Charlie, David and Joyce's children Eric and Daniel, John and Kathy's children Kevin and Dennis, and Ricky and Patty's children Rebecca Lynn, Veronica, Vannessa, and Victoria. Dearest Great-Grandfather of Eric's children Abby and Keira and Kevin's child Lillian. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his wife Joann M. Smith nee Kroncke his daughter Francis Jean Smith, his granddaughter Danielle, and his parents Vincent N. Smith and Dorothea A. Smith nee Wagner.

Vince was a member of the American Legion Post No. 168, PURL Member, DAV Chapter No. 17 Life Member, VFW Post No. 802 Life Member, 7th Inf. Div. Association, and 5th R.C.T. Association.
