Obituary

Vilma A. Juranovich of Hammond, IN., passed away on October 12, 2009. She is survived by her loving children, Son, John M. Juranovich of Hammond and her Daughter, Kathleen Gavrilos of Adelaide, Australia; beloved grandmother of Tyler and Anthony Juranovich, Alexis, Kristina, and Nicholas Gavrilos; loving sister, Fedora (late Michael) Coduti of Griffith, Martha (Paul) Burns of Schererville, Joanne (late Joseph) Kicho of Munster, Deanne (Wesley) Fry of Camby, IN and many nieces and nephews. Dearest friends, Jean Salmon and Stephanie Mackiewicz. Vilma was preceded in death by her husband, John Juranovich, parents, Arideo and Isola Ciardetti, and her sister, Amelita Ciardetti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10 AM DIRECTLY from St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN. with Rev. Richard Orlinski celebrating the mass. Friends may gather at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until time of service. Burial will follow the mass at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN. Vilma was born in East Chicago and resided in Hammond for 54 years. She was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, Class of 1946, was employed at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School and was the head baker at Donald E. Gavit High School, Hammond, IN where she retired after 35 years of service. She was an active member of St. John Bosco's Parish Life, Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Vilma was also a member of Cesare Battista Italian Lodge. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed baking for her family and friends and playing pinochle and bunco. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John Bosco Church, Hospice of the Calumet Area, Inc. or a charity of your choice in her name. Vilma was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. May God grant her eternal rest in His Heavenly Kingdom.
