Verna L Rush, age 97, of Crown Point, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, John Rush. Left to cherish her memory is loving brother, Warren Stawitcke, Sr; caring grandchildren, Don (Lynette) Barrell, John (Michele) Barrell and Mitzie (Patrick) O'Connor; 10 great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends. She will be especially missed by great granddaughter, Rylee O'Connor. Verna was born in Hammond, graduated from George Rogers Clark High School and "worked her entire life" at Lever Brothers, where she was known as the "Lady in Red", retiring in 1978. She, along with her late husband, John, were active members in the Lever Brothers Retirees Club for many years. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 10:00 a.m. at LaHayne Funeral Home (6955 Southeastern Ave Hammond, IN) with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, March 2, 2018 at LaHayne Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
