Timothy Charles Sinder, age 81, of Hammond, IN., left this life to start his heavenly journey on Saturday, June 29, 2024, after a courageous two year battle against lung cancer.

Tim is survived by the love of his life of 56 years, Gayle (nee Smith), whom he married on October 14, 1967; his adoring children: son, Jeffrey (Amy) Sinder; daughter, Christine (Ronnie) Sellers; daughter, Dawn (Kevin) Collard; precious grandchildren: Maddie, Josh, Colin, Liam, Jackson, Laila and Anna; siblings: brother, Thomas (Rosemary) Sinder; sister, Lois Sinder; brother-in-law, Vic (late Mary Lou)Segneri; sisters-in-law, JoAnne (late Thomas) Lenz and Judith (late Earl) Shisler; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Waiting to greet Tim in heaven are his parents: Charles and Nellie Sinder; and in-laws: Joseph and Mary Smith.

Tim graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt High School in 1960. He then proudly served his country in the Marine Corps (1960-1964). Semper Fi.  He worked and retired from NIPSCO after 30 years of service. He was a member of American legion Post 369 and USWA Union Local 12775.

Tim enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their activities. He also enjoyed junking, Jeopardy and his monthly breakfast with his NIPSCO buddies.  He was always up to savoring a cold MGD.

A special Thank You to his wonderful and caring physicians: Dr. Devanathan, Dr. Keralavarma and Dr. Kalluri, and also to his angel staff at WJ Riley Hospice in Munster for their comforting care.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Catholic Church located at 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN, with Father Jeffrey Burton officiating. Burial will follow to St. John/St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond with Military Honors performed. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 3:00-8:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, located at 6955 Southeastern Ave. Hammond, IN.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis or The American Cancer Society.
