Thomas Koval, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Born on March 11, 1959, he was the beloved son of Thomas and Kathleen Koval. Thomas is survived by his siblings: Laura (David), Michael (Elizabeth), and Mary Kay. He was the cherished uncle of: Kate, Christopher, Matthew (Jennifer), Margaret, and Rebecca (Jeff); and great-uncle of Rudy, Katrina, and Nathaniel. Always a dog lover, Thomas is survived by his cherished dog, Messi; who you might have seen on their frequent walks through Forsythe Park. Thomas was a lifelong Whiting/Robertsdale resident and a proud member of the Roosevelt Club and the American Legion Post 80 (previously Post 369). Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman who fished and hunted. He was lovingly referred to as our "Uncle Tommy" who taught his nieces and nephews how to hunt pheasant and fish from his boat. He leaves behind his dear friends and buddies from the various social and sporting clubs he was a member of throughout his life. Our memories of the support and camaraderie Thomas shared with those around him will live on as he rests eternally with his parents and his dogs, Margie, Maggie, and Sabrina.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond IN.
A Funeral Service will take place at LaHayne Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 23, at 10:30AM with Fr. Mark Peres of St. John the Baptist, Whiting officiating.
