Steffie Evak nee Markul, age 87, of Merrillville and formerly of Hammond, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. Beloved Wife of the late John Evak. Loving Mother of David Evak, John "Bobby" Evak, and Susan (Pat) Higgins. Cherished Sister of John Markul, late Ann Gleiznis, late Milavoj "Bunny" Markul. Sister-in-law of late Lottie Markul, late Loretta Ivak, late Andrew Ivak, and late Tony Gleiznis, SR. Proud Grandmother of Sarah (Kip) Bergstrom. Fond Aunt of April Markul, Phyllis (Bill) Malecki, Donna (Frank) Geislman, Tony Gleiznis, and Wayne Ivak. 5 Great Nephews, 2 Great Nieces, 4 Great-great Nephews, and 1 Great-great Niece. Steffie was retired from JCPennys in River Oaks. She also loved to crotchet. Her humor and quick wit will be missed by those who loved and knew her.
