Sophie Kornas nee Sapyta, age 84, of Hammond, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012. Beloved wife for 60 years to the late Raymond J. Kornas. Loving mother of Marsha (Malcolm) Reder, Tim (Isabel "Buffy) Kornas, Larry (Lupe) Kornas, and Steve Kornas. Cherished sister of Julie (late Elmer) Hightower, Helen (late Roy) Conley, late Mary (Ken) Brink, late Ann (late Dale) Eubanks, Carolyn (late Bill) Smith, Jennie (Bob), late Stanley (Marie) Sapyta, late Hagen Sapyta, late John (late Mary) Sapyta, Frankie Sapyta, and Jimmy (Mary) Sapyta. Proud grandmother of 10. Dearest great-grandmother of 8. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Sophie loved playing Bingo and making Pierogi's for her family.
