Scott died at home on February 12, 2014, after a long illness-he was 58 years old. Born in Berwyn, Illinois, he grew up in nearby Stickney, the son of Rupert and Mildred Thompson , with big sisters Carol and Gail. He is survived by his wife Karen, mother Mildred and sisters Carol and Gail, brothers-in-law John, Eric, Brian and Bob, sisters-in-law Mary, Diana and Heather, aunts Annette and Emily, uncles Bob and Bill, cousins Richo, Tom, Barbara, Roseanne, Noreen, Linda, Diane and spouses, mothers-in-law Claire and Susan, father-in-law Dave, nieces Holly, Angela and Beth, nephews Randy, Todd and Rick, great nieces Keira and Athena, great nephew Andrew, and many, many good friends. Scott was a man of broad interests and enthusiasms. At various times in his life he was a pilot, computer programmer, chef, fine art photographer, lighting technician, artist and storyteller. He loved music (especially Frank Zappa and the Playing for Change collective), dance and the arts, and enjoyed attending concerts, dance recitals and exhibits. He played and collected musical instruments and crafted shadowboxes and collages. He loved animals, especially his dogs Ginger, Shelby, big golden dog Cedric, Sonya and his beloved black Lab puppy Rachel who misses him very much, along with his cats, Boogaloo, Kamir and Freddie. He was a kind, loving and gentle man. Scott served in the US Army as a medic and was a member of and served in several offices (including commander) for American Legion Miller Dunes Post 279 in Gary, IN. He also served as an election judge and inspector for a local precinct for many years and was active in the Miller community, which he loved. He enjoyed the beach and entertaining. Friends are invited to celebrate Scott's life at a dinner with music on Saturday, March 22 at 5PM, at American Legion Miller Dunes Post 279, 6601 Old Hobart Rd, Gary, IN.
