Sally J Scaggs, age 87, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was born to the late Roy and Eva Witter on June 19, 1929 in Hammond, Indiana. She was the youngest of nine children and a lifelong Hammond resident. Sally was a school lunch lady for the School City of Hammond and retired after 25 years of service. Sally was very athletic, loved to Golf and was involved in many golfing tours at Woodmar Country Club. After retirement, Sally and her late husband Dalmar Scaggs enjoyed traveling to different golf courses through the country. She was a member of the Women's Rotary Club at Woodmar United Methodist Church. Sally enjoyed listening to 40's and 50's music, watching westerns and was devoted to her animals. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by nieces: Gay Lynn (Thomas) Seger, Nancy (Tim) Pauley, Jill McLean, Virginia Gribben; great nieces and nephews: Thomas (Carey) Gaddis, Carol (Mark) Lambert; close friend, Phyllis; special caregiver, Monica; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Del Scaggs; parents; five brothers; three sisters; nephew Tommy Lee; nieces: Heidi Flowers, Judy Gaddis and faithful companion Buffy. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 12:00 Noon at LaHayne Funeral Home (6955 Southeastern Ave. Hammond, IN) Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In memory of Sally, donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
