Ruth V. DeBruyn nee Day, age 95, of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2013 Beloved wife of the late Paul DeBruyn Loving mother of the late Patti (James) Lamott of Munster, IN Proud grandmother of Amy Lamott of Lafayette, IN and Karen (Adam) Lamott Schiffer of Westfield, IN. Dearest great-grandmother of Alex Schiffer and Jacob Schiffer Cherished sister of Bill Day of Waterloo, IA. Ruth was born in Iowa in 1918 and moved to Whiting with her husband in 1940. She worked for many years at J.C. Penney's in downtown Hammond and then Calumet National Bank in Hessville. She was an active member of the Hammond YWCA and spent countless hours at the Hammond Civic Center exercising. Funeral Service Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11 AM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southwestern Ave., Hammond. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
