Roland J. Brogdon, age 77, US Air Force Veteran, of Schererville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, October 12, 2015. Beloved husband for 59 years to Sarah M. Brogdon nee Carver. Loving father of Sherry (Kenneth) Weaver, William (Jill) Brogdon, Sandra (Tim) Weaver, Teresa (late Jeffery) Chapman, and Phillip (Tina) Brogdon. Devoted brother of Willie Ruth (late James) Blackwell and Mary Ann Missal. Proud grandpa and great-grandpa of many. Fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John Allen and Mary E. Brogdon nee Arnold, and his brothers Robert (Betty) Brogdon, John Brogdon, and Melvin Brogdon. Roland loved fishing with his brothers in the Warrior River. He was always a hard worker. Roland never really liked dogs until Buffy came into his life. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Black Oak Baptist Church, 6502 W. 25th Ave., Gary, In.
