Roberta J. Calia nee Shank, age 73, of Hammond, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. Roberta will be remembered as a much loved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a retired Inside Sales Representative from Philips and enjoyed reading, playing electronic games, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Laura Shank, husband Frank, and brother Kendall. She is survived by her brother Allen Shank, his wife Katherine, and their six children, Wesley Shank, Kurtis Shank, Tammy Shank, Puma Shank, Ethan Shank, and Alexandria Shank; son John Silva, his wife Shannon, and their two children, Lauren Clark and Ryen Silva; and daughter Laurie Hill and her four children, Brittney Hill, Andrew Hill, Isabella Ramos, and Theodore Ramos, and the late Kendall Shank's four children, Malinda Prather, Tim Shank, Kim Wells, and Craig Shank. Roberta's special friends, Jackie (Gil) Silva, Betty (Jerry) Christopher, Jack Waddell. Roberta will be missed by many friends and family. She taught us how important it is to love, be generous and kind and enjoy every moment of everyday. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2 PM with Pastor Dave Kiesling officiating followed by a visitation until 7 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN.
