Robert "Bob" C. Toth, SR, age 87, US Army Veteran of the Korean War, of East Chicago, passed away Friday, July 03, 2015. Beloved husband for 62 years to Carol J. Toth nee Kerner. Loving father of Sally (Donald) Johnson, Robert (Janet) Toth, JR, Jeffrey (late Tammara) Toth, and Wendy (Richard M. Kula) Toth. Proud grandpa of Bernice (fiancé Dave Bolinger) Johnson, Cassie Johnson, Lauren Toth, Kristen Toth, Michael Toth, Valerie Toth, Robert Toth, Jeffrey Black, Kristina Toth, and Joshua Toth. Dearest great-grandpa of 9. Fond uncle of many. Preceded in death by his parents Ignace and Josephine Toth nee Byrd, his brothers Charles (late Arlene) Toth, Raymond Toth, and Thomas Toth, and his grandson Matthew Toth. Bob loved traveling the country with the love of his life Carol in their RV. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, playing on the church's dart ball league, and dancing with his wife at the American Legion East Chicago Post 369. He was the home run hitter at the Hammond YMCA and played in the Senior Games. Bob was known around the neighborhood as the Scrapman, where he would trade in his scrap for cash. He was a longtime member of the Centenary Methodist Church and their Youth Group Counselor and when they closed Bob's family became members at Woodmar Methodist Church.. Bob also was the assistant Scout Leader with Troop 705. He could always be heard cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Bob looks forward to seeing his furry friends Lady, Heidi, Kelly, Patches, and Pretzels and will be missed by his cats Kitty Cat and Coco. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Funeral Service Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11 AM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Alex Stone, Pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
