Robert "Bob" G. Gluth, age 93, US Naval Veteran of World War II, of Hammond, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016. Beloved husband for 71 years to Wanda Gluth nee Carver. Loving father of Shari (Dan) Broviak and Richard L. (Debbie) Gluth. Devoted brother of Henry (Joyce) Gluth. Proud grandfather of Shaun Boyan, Erik Boyan, Trica (Joe) Nappo, Bob (Nicole) Gluth, Rick (Renee) Gluth, Dan Gluth, JR, Chris (Jessica) Gluth, and Justin Gluth. Dearest great-grandfather of 16. Fond uncle of 5 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sons Robert Gluth and Daniel J. Gluth, SR, his parents Henry R. Gluth and Martha A. Gluth nee Guering, and his brother Chester (late Helen) Gluth. Bob served aboard the USS Wasp and was discharged with high honors. He played football and graduated from Wabash College. Bob was a member for 13 years of the Hammond School Board where he served as president for 2 years. He was also a member of Woodmar County Club and Kiwanis Club. He was a member of The Roofing Contractors Assn. and Indiana Subcontractors Assn. Bob was a life-member of the VFW Post 802. He was the past president of Consumers Roofing Co. and the president of The Roofing Corp. Bob loved to golf and bowl. Every year he would take the family to Disney World in their motor home. Bob was most proud of his title of Papaw, not just with his grandkids but with everybody. He was loved by many and will be missed by more. Friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN.
