Raymond "Ray" H. Zacny, age 91, US Air Force Veteran of WWII and the Korean War, of Hammond, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016. Beloved husband for 62 years to Dorothy Marie Zacny nee Humpfer. Loving father of Dan Zacny, Chris (Sonja) Zacny, Kathleen Wible, and Karen Zacny. Proud grandfather of Christopher (Sam) Zacny, Jane Zacny, Cassie Zacny, Elizabeth Wible, Adam Wible, and Matthew Wible. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Harry Zacny and Caroline Zacny nee Mitchka, and his 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Ray graduated from Hammond High in the 40's. He retired after 44 years with Amoco. Ray loved to fly with his late friend Chuck in their little plane. He was a Cub Scout Leader at St. John Bosco Church along with his wife Dorothy who was a Den Mother. He was loved by many and will be missed by more. Friends are invited to meet with Ray's family on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Lying in state from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5304 Hohman Ave., Hammond with Rev. Richard "Rick" Orlinski, Pastor officiating.
