Paul Chartos, age 93 passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was born to the late Balint and Mary Chartos on July 26, 1924. Paul was a lifelong Hammond resident. He proudly served his country in the Navy as a Ship Fitter. He was a police officer for the Hammond Police Department and retired in 1989 as Sergeant. He enjoyed being outdoors as he liked to hunt, fish and spend time gardening. Paul was a member of the FOP Lodge #51 of Hammond and EOW H. Larson VFW Post 802 of Hammond. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Chartos; children: Dawn Miklusak, Teresa (Tom Ferguson) Chartos; granddaughter, Megan (Logan) Mitchell; two greatgrandchildren: Allison, Matthew; one sister, Isabelle Diller. Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Barney, William, Charles; two sisters: Marie and Elizabeth.
