Naomi "Kitty" I. Brown nee Kittell, age 84, of Munster, joined her Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Beloved wife of Michael D. Connell Loving mother of Susan (John) Hancock. Devoted sister of Leon (Charlene) Kittell, Glada (Johnnie) Crews, and Glenna Patz. Proud grandmother Amanda (Tommy) Adams, Paul (Valen) Adams, and Cody (Kayla) Adams. Dearest great-grandmother of Amber Leicht and Conner Leicht. Fond aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished mommy to her dogs Lady, Duchess, and Tiger. Preceded in death by her husband Nelson K. Brown, her son Theodore "Ted" Keith Brown, her daughter Janice Diane Brown, her parents Daniel O. Kittell and Eva Kittell nee Inman, and her sister Emogene (Eldon) Johnson. Naomi graduated from Beauty School in 1949 and started working out of the basement of her house up until just a few months ago. She belonged to the Nifty Knitters and made hats for the homeless. Naomi loved to show off her 1935 Plymouth Coupe at car shows and would actually drag race in her Honda at the Route 30 Speedway. She was a people person and very outgoing. Naomi would actually give the shirt off her back to those in need. She just loved giving out hugs. Naomi was most proud of her relationship with God. She was loved by many and will be missed by more. Friends are invited to a celebration of Naomi's life on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Lying in State on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 10 AM until time of Service at 11 AM with Pastor Dan Obinger officiating at Griffith Baptist Church, 826 N. Harvey St., Griffith, IN. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Faith Promise Mission Fund in care of Griffith Baptist Church would be appreciated.
