It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Nancy R. Scott, who left this world on April 22, 2025, at the age of 70. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Nancy was born on November 5, 1954, to her parents, Kathryn Knautz and Mitchell Dowd. Throughout her life, Nancy was surrounded by the love of her family, including her husband Michael A. Scott Sr., and her five children: John (Natalie) Probus, Judith (Steve) Ashley, Toni (Jason) Hall, Joanne (Nathan) Kelding. She found joy in talking on the phone with her sister, Vicki (Donald) Haines and brother, Denven Catt of France. Her family and friends always brought light into her life.
Despite facing the loss of her parents, Kathryn Knautz, Mitchell Dowd, her beloved son Michael A Scott Jr., and brothers, Larry Catt and Jack Catt; Nancy maintained a steadfast spirit and a positive outlook on life. Her resilience and strength inspired those around her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family.
Nancy was a proud grandmother to a large family, which included numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had the pleasure of raising her oldest granddaughter, Vicki Alvarado. She cherished every moment spent with them and shared her wisdom and affection generously. Her legacy will live on through the memories and love she shared with each of her descendants.
In her professional life as a CNA Nancy excelled and was known for her dedication and hard work.
Nancy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories and stories we hold dear. She will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and love for her family. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was cherished and deeply loved by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 10 AM at LaHayne Funeral Home in Hammond, IN, with Chaplain Hector Trevino officiating. Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share their memories on Monday, April 28, 2025, at LaHayne Funeral Home from 3-7 PM.
