Obituary

Mildred Fay Fisher (nee Yoder), 93, lifelong resident of Hammond, IN., has "taken that sentimental journey home" from Arizona, where she passed away on February 27, 2010 due to complications of a stroke suffered while wintering with her children, a custom since 1976. She reunites with her husband, Tom, who departed thirty years ago, her mother, Minnie Yoder, father, Mark Yoder, and brother, William Yoder and an uncountable number of family, friends and acquaintances made during a full and productive life. Whether behind a secretarial desk, participating in a church service or engaging in a rousing hand of pinochle, Mildred's smiling countenance was a beacon to all. Her beloved Cubs never delivered a world Series win, a goal she leaves in the hands of her sister, Dorothy Sutkowski. But we know she will always be cheering them and all of us from her place in heaven. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10 AM directly from St.John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Ave., Hammond, IN, with Rev. Richard Orlinski officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. and Saturday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services. A prayer service will be held Friday at 3 PM at the funeral home. For information call LaHayne Funeral Home at 219-845-3600 or visit www.lahaynefuneralhome.com
