Michael J. Kambiss, age 101, Retired Hammond Chief of Police, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Beloved Husband of Sophie Kambiss nee Souris Loving Father of John (Patricia) Kambiss of Cumming, GA and Peter Kambiss of Henderson, NV. Cherished Brother of the late Theodore (Audrey) Kambiss, the late Angeline (late Peter) Apostolou the late Georgia (late James) Trembois, the late Peter Kambiss, and the late Thais (late Dr. James) Korellis Proud Grandfather of 2. Dearest Great-Grandfather of 5. Fond Uncle of many Nieces and Nephews. Michael was Chief of Police in Hammond from 1958 to 1966. He was the Director of the Housing Authority from 1969 to 1978. He was the longest living member of the FOP Lodge 51 of Hammond. He was a 75 year member of the McKinley Lodge 712 F&AM of Schererville. Family and friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 3 PM until 8 PM with a Trisagion Service at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond.
