Michael J. "Mikey" Curcione, age 54, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

Michael is survived by his children: Kelly J. (Max) Spruth and Joey (Yessi) Curcione; mother, Stephanie Noble; sister, Gina Curcione; nieces: Shannon (Chris) Rodriguez and Stephanie (David Durham) Sasenberg; nephew, Luc Bindel. Michael was preceded in passing by his father, Gerald N. Curcione.

Mikey was born in Chicago, IL. October 2, 1967, to Gerald and Stephanie Curcione. He attended Lane Tech High School and continued his education at DeVry University and Calumet College. Mikey enjoyed cooking and was employed at different restaurants before joining the Whiting Police Department as a Crossing Guard, where he was proud of the fact that he helped keep his "kids" safe. Besides the joy he got from being a dad and raising his kids, he enjoyed collecting Marvel and DC comics, and playing Magic: The Gathering with his family and friends. He loved being outside in nature, and photography was his hobby.  Mikey was a huge movie buff, especially Star Wars and anything Sci-Fi. As an avid reader he always looked forward to the next book.
