Merle "Bea" L. Cerda nee Vicari, age 73, of Hammond, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013. Beloved wife of 50 years of Robert Cerda. Loving mother of David (Christopher) Cerda, Denise (John) Shumaker, and Danielle (Rick) Almanza. Beloved grandmother of Sebastian, Ethan, Jillian, Gianna, Samantha, Madison, Ricky, Lucky, Lucien, Bella and London. Beloved sister of Kathleen Koss, and sister-in-law of Manuel (Dolly) Cerda, Larry Cerda, Joseph Cerda, Sally Carrales, and Susan Zacharzuk. Dearest aunt and Godmother of Jeffrey Koss and many other nephews and nieces. Proud friend to many, and loving owner to her dog, Molly. Predeceased by son Michael, parents Sam and Myrts Vicari, and brother Steve. Bea worked for St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond for over 30 years. She loved decorating her home, dancing, doo-wop music, was a fantastic cook, and shared the love of the Beatles with her son, Michael. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 12 noon to time of service at 3 pm at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave,., Hammond, IN.
