Obituary

Louise M. Leimbach nee Whitehead, age 88, of Colon, Michigan, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 08, 2015.
She was born on March 9, 1927 in Tuttle, North Dakota and was the oldest of 12 children born to Charles and Emma Whitehead. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Arthur, who carried her picture in his wallet throughout World War II. Together they raised 7 Children in their home, which was built by Art, his brothers, and many dear friends. Louise was preceded in death by her husband in 1976.
Louise is survived by her children Dian (late Ronald) Leckrone, Leann (late James) Wilczewski, Pam (Warren) Stawitcke, Glenn (Kathy) Leimbach, Jeffery (Jeanine) Leimbach, Charles Leimbach, Lori (Harry) Mason, Grandchildren Carrie Leckrone, Jennifer (Richard) Koontz, Scott Wilczewski, Kevin Wilczewski, Christi (Nate) Spears, Stacy (Chris) Allison, Danielle (Seamus) O'Rourke, Amanda Leimbach, Beau Leimbach, Gabrielle Leimbach, and Meaghan Mason. And Great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Reece, Alan, Layton, and Jesse Waruszewski, Brandon, Marissa, Kortney, and Kaitlyn Wilczewski, and Avriana and Everley Spears, brothers Douglas (Lucy) and Stanley (late Joyce) Whitehead, sister Janet (late William) Ball and Linda (Robert) Grawcock, many Nieces and Nephews.
Louise was a wonderful, caring mother, and opened her home to many others, who often affectionately called it the "LYC" (Leimbach Youth Center.
Louise stayed active in the Lutheran Church throughout most of her life. In 1986, she moved to "God's Country", where she made many wonderful memories at the "lake" spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, decorating cakes, quilting, crocheting, sewing and crafting. She dearly loved her family and friends, was kind and sympathetic, and always helped anyone in need. She was a role model for many.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME , 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. Lying in State Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM until time of Service at 11:00 AM at First United Lutheran Church, 6705 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, Indiana with Dr. Bassam Abdallah, Pastor officiating.
