Linda "Lynn" J. Birchell, age 73, of Hammond, IN., passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Lynn is survived by her children: Dawn (Scott) Kretchmer and Troy (Stacie) Birchell; grandchildren: Brandon (Bethany) Kretchmer, Cheyenne (fiancé, Ozzie Moreno) Kretchmer, Jacob Cruz, Joshua Birchell and Justyn Birchell; great grandchildren: Sophia Cruz and Gabbie Cruz; her dog, Misty and her cat, Algie.  Lynn was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert "Bob" E. Birchell; parents: Wayne and Willa Flickinger; siblings: Kathy, Ron and Vicky.

Lynn was born on December 30, 1948, in Trenton, PA to Wayne and WIlla Flickinger.  She moved to Indiana when she was 5 years old.  While in High School she met Bob, the love of her life, while waitressing at a corner diner in Whiting.  After graduating from Hammond Tech High School, they married and enjoyed travelling all over the US, and together raised a family. Lynn was a member of the Silver Sneakers at Purdue.  She enjoyed Cruises and Hot Air Balloon Rides.  She was an Avid Christmas Cookie Baker and designated herself as the family photographer.  Lynn was most proud of her earned title, "Mamaw".

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2022, at 10:00 AM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324 with Pastor Freida Scales officiating. Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home.
