Leonor E. Garcia, age 82, of Hammond, IN, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009. She is survived by 10 children, Grace (Armando) Valenzuela, Irene Wilson, Alberto Garcia, Jr., Dora (Al) Zakarias, Maria Esther (Jesse) Hernandez, David Garcia, Angelina (Manuel) Rivera, Irma Flores, Maria Elena (Rex) Anderson, and Lucia (Roland) Alvarez; 27 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Tomasa Garcia and Lucia Espinoza; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto R. Garcia, Sr., on October 9, 2009. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 12:30 PM from LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN with Pastor Elsa Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Our devoted, loving mother went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 60 years. She devoted her life to the Lord, her children, and family who meant the world to her. She loved to garden and wanted to feed everybody that came to visit her. She loved her farm animals and her singing birds. She woke up with a song in her heart and praised the Lord every day. She never complained about her health and always said "Life is beautiful." She was a true Proverbs 31 woman: her children arise and call her blessed. Our wonderful parents are together in heaven now. We love them and will miss them very much. We are all very grateful to all the caretakers that were kind and supportive at Community Hospital and Vital Home Health Care.
