Leana Rose Housty nee Dishaw, age 83, of Hammond "Hessville", passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in her home with her loving sons and closet friends. Beloved wife for 48 years to the late Julius Housty Loving mother of Kathleen (Lawrence) Jackson of Sacramento, CA, Mark (Rose Gough) Housty of Portage, IN, and Brian (Susanne) Housty of Vancouver, WA, Proud grandmother of 8 Dearest great-grandmother of 7 Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews She will be missed by her loving caretakers, James and Christina Swafford, and her lifelong friend and close companion Phil Probus, SR and her canine pal Shaggy. Leana was born and raised in Hessville, IN to Dewey and Gertrude Dishaw nee Hess. Leana is a 5th generation descendent of Joseph Hess, SR, founder of our great town of Hessville, IN. She graduated from Morton Sr. High School, after which she worked for the AAA Motor Club until she met and married Julius, becoming a wife and homemaker. She was a strong member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Hammond. She also was an excellent photographer who shared many awards with her husband Julius, both members of 3-H, Lake County, and Image Makers Camera Clubs. She was participant alongside Julius at Garfield Masonic Lodge No. 569 F & AM and organized many fund raisers for Morton Senior High School Band and Scouting troops that her sons Brian and Mark participated in. She touched more lives than she could ever imagine and will be truly missed.
