Larry L. Tayler, Sr., of Hammond, Indiana, passed away on October 22, 2026, in Hammond. He was born on July 7, 1946, in Hammond, and remained a man whose life was marked by steady devotion to the people he loved and the things that brought him joy.

Larry was a jack of all trades who loved helping others and fixing whatever needed attention. He will be remembered as someone people could count on, a man who put his hands and heart to work in service of those around him. He found happiness in fishing, boating, scuba diving, racecars, and playing poker, and he was also a loyal Chicago Bears fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, adding to a life filled with activity, energy, and connection. Larry was proud to carry the luck and pride of the Irish and loved to celebrate the heritage with his friends and loved ones.

At the center of Larry’s life was his family. He shared 58 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Florence, a partnership built over decades of love and commitment. He is also survived by his son, Larry (Lisa) Tayler, Jr.; his daughter, Colleen (Rob) Coblentz; his granddaughters, Simone (Chris) Stewart, Samantha, and Sierra; and his great-grandchildren, Eva, Alara, Chris, Mickey, William, Liam, Noah, Levi, Faith, and Emma. He is further survived by his brother, Steve (Debbie) Tayler and his best friend, Manny Vega. The love Larry gave to his family will remain with them, and his memory will continue to live on through the generations who knew his care, his strength, and his presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Tayler; his mother, Elizabeth Tayler, née Mitchell; and his sisters: Colleen, Shirley, and Sherry. Their memories remained a part of the story of his life, and now he rests among them.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at La Hayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave, Hammond, Indiana 46324. A funeral service will be held there on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Jeffrey Burton officiating. Burial will follow to Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.

Larry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His life was one of loyalty, usefulness, enjoyment, and family love, and those gifts remain his lasting legacy.
