Larry W. Nelson, Sr, age 71, US Marine Corps Veteran, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Beloved husband for 44 years to the late Shirley V. Nelson nee Brietenbach. Loving father of Larry (Katherine) Nelson, II Michael Nelson, and Tracy (Ricky) Wilcox. Cherished brother of Becky (Don) Arnett and Edward (Vicky) Nelson. Proud Grandfather of Samantha Wilcox and Amanda Wilcox. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Oldest of 26 cousins. Larry was retired after many years with the Hammond Sanitary District. He was a Past Master with the Gary Lodge No. 677 F. & A.M and current member of Whiting Lodge No. 613 F. & A.M. Larry was also known as Weblo the Clown and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was Santa at the Woodmar Mall for many years. Funeral Service Friday, March 30, 2012 at 7 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, with Rev. Jim Goettel, Pastor at Life Point Church, officiating. Interment Private. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday from 3 PM until time of Service at 7 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM.
