Obituary

June E. Rose nee Harder, age 88, of Hammond, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012. Loving mother of David A. Rose. Beloved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished god-mother or second mother of many others. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Arnold Rose, parents William J. and Erna Harder, sister Ruth Vater, and brother William F. Harder. June graduated from George Rogers Clark in 1942. After attending Felt and Tarrent Comptometer School in Chicago, she worked for Continental Machine and Foundry and then for several years for the New York Central Railroad. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, most actively in its Dorcas Society and its Lutheran Braille Workers chapter, which she helped found and lead. A person typically restrained in conversation, she unfailingly expressed her love and care for others by her dedicated sending of greeting cards. Lying in State on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 10:30 AM until time of Service at 11 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7227 Hohman Ave., Hammond with Rev. Karl Frincke, officiating. Interment will follow at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the Family on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 3 PM until 8 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave. Hammond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church, Lutheran Braille Workers, or the charity of your choice.
