Juanita Hernandez, age 87, of Hammond, IN., passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Juanita is survived by her children: Frank (Cindy) Hernandez, Maryann Cavazos, Luis Hernandez and Rosa Rubio; grandchildren: Jessica, Erica, Jason, Sylvia, Julia, Matthew, Stephanie, Nathan, Isabelle, Benjamin, Emily, Melanie, Yasmine, Layla, Emma; great grandchildren: Alice, Alena, Angelo, Ceasar, Ethan, Natalie, Naomi; sister, Gloria (Borrado) Vargas. She was preceded in passing by her parents: Alonzo and Maria Charo; siblings: Samuel, Jose Angel, Alonzo, Roy, Irma "Alice"; infant brothers: Cayetano and Leonel.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 6:00 PM at New Life Community Church located at 116 Hoffman Street, Hammond, IN 46327 with Pastor Eduardo Guerra officiating.  Friends and family are invited to visit at New Life Community Church from 2:00PM until time of service at 6:00 PM.

Juanita was born on May 9, 1937, in Cotulla Texas to Alonzo and Maria Charo. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Chicago serving as a Guadalupana.  She loved dancing from a young age and kept on dancing into her senior years. Juanita will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
