Josephine E. Mika nee Kolodziej, age 95, of Munster, Indiana, lifetime resident of the Calumet Region, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Munster Community Hospital. She is survived by her nephew Lee Kolodziej (dear friend Peg Petersen), and beloved friend and longtime caregiver Darlene Cleveringa as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward S. Mika, her parents, Joseph and Caroline Kolodziej and brothers Michael, John and Henry. Josephine was an employee of the Ford Motor Company (Chicago Assembly Plant) working as a Secretary to the Plant Manager for over 36 years until her retirement in 1982. In her earlier years, Josephine was active in her church choir at St. Michael's National Catholic Church, as well as the United Circle Choirs of Northern Indiana. She was an active member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Women's Society at St. Michaels and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Griffith Chapter No. 583, Griffith, Indiana. Josephine loved working with ceramics and was involved in that kraft for over 42 years and enjoyed traveling very much. She will be sadly missed by all her dear friends.
