Joseph P. Polys, age 87, US Army Veteran of WWII, of Dyer and formerly of Hammond, passed away Saturday May 26, 2012. Cherished Husband to the late Helen Polys nee Franek Devoted Father of Nancy (late Louis) Zager, and Kellee Skurka. Preceded in death by 5 Brothers. Proud Grandfather of Christofer and Nicholas Skurka. Beloved by his extended family of Michael Zager, Lynn and Alan Ogan, Jason and Jeffrey Ogan, and Stephanie Sandilla. The family would like to thank all his friends and the employees at Dyer Nursing and Sheffield Manor Assisted Living. Joseph was retired from Indiana Bell. He was a member of the Amoco Annuitants Club and the American Legion Allied Post 369. He also belonged to St John Bosco. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
