Jose "Pepe" A. Matchain, Sr., age 63, of Hammond, IN, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Jose is survived by his children: Junior A. (Jennifer) Matchain and Jeanette A. Matchain; grandpa of: Francisco Matchain and Damien Matchain; siblings: Lorie Matchain, Carlos Matchain, Salo Matchian, Linda (Mario Perez) Matchain and Juan Matchain; Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.  Jose was preceded in passing by his parents: Carlos and Salome Matchain; and his brother, Miguel (Victoria) Matchain.

Pepe was born in Chicago on April 28, 1958, to Carlos and Salome Matchain.  He loved listening to music, especially "Dusties" and "Classic House".  He was a known jokester and prankster as he loved to make people laugh.  He was known as "Papa" to all of his family.  He would always try helping those in need by keeping them on the right path by being a father figure to them.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 7:30 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home located at 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324 with Pastor Gasper Hernandez officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 4:00 PM until the time of Service at 7:30 PM.  Due to Covid-19 the family asks that masks be worn, and social distancing be practiced.
