Joanne Jurgens,(nee Beavers) age 67, of Schererville, IN passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard, Sr.; 3 children, Kathy (Ron) Otto of Munster, IN, Karen (Tim) Creighton of Griffith, IN and Richard (Dawn) Jurgens, Jr. of Munster, IN; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lois Beavers, and sister, Jennie Fuller. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 10 AM directly from Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9009 Kennedy Ave., Highland, IN with Rev. Arthur Burkman and Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN and Wednesday morning at the church from 9 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Joanne served as church secretary at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Munster, IN for 27 years. She enjoyed working as a volunteer coordinator for Care to Share in Munster, as well as working as a Hospice volunteer. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church as well as the Altar Guild at the church. Joanne was a beautiful person and was loved dearly by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
