Jo Ann Marie Ignowski (nee Jewett), age 62, lost her fight to illness on Thursday, May 20, 2010. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Emmie (Edward) Long, Grandchildren, Jacob and Katherine, 3 Brothers, Edward (Aleta) Jewett, Ronald (Jean) Jewett, and David Jewett, one sister, Jodie (Steve) Demoff, family friend, Bryan Beavers, aunts, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Jewett, Sr.; mother, Anna Gearhart, husband, Gerard Ignowski, companion, John Riebe and beloved dog, Maggie. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2010 at 1 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond, IN.with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2-6 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated. Jo Ann was born on November 16, 1947 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She graduated from Crown Point High School in 1966 and married Gerard in 1969. She was a 30 year member of the American Legion Post #261 Auxiliary in Cedar Lake, IN and a Life Member and Past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #802 Auxiliary of Hammond, IN.
